1. What is Dority International Alumni Association (DIAA)?
DIAA is the official global network of former students of Dority International Early Learning School, Aba, Nigeria (formerly Dority International Secondary School). We are a voluntary, inclusive association dedicated to fostering lifelong connections, supporting our alma mater, and empowering fellow alumni.
2. Who can join the association?
Membership is open to all former students of Dority, regardless of their graduating year or current location.
3. Why should I join the alumni association?
By joining DIAA, you gain access to a growing network of professionals, entrepreneurs, academics, and creatives. Membership allows you to:
- Reconnect with your former classmates
- Support current students of Dority
- Participate in reunions, and mentorship programs
- Contribute to projects that uplift our alma mater
4. What makes this current version of the alumni association different from past attempts that failed?
There are many reasons why previous attempts failed. But the current members of the association are determined not to repeat past mistakes.
We have a draft constitution that will soon be ratified, we document our meetings, have committees working on different aspects of the association, and will soon be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. This current version will definitely be successful.
5. Is there a financial commitment to join?
There is no fee to register or become a part of the Dority International Alumni Association. We believe every alumnus should have the opportunity to stay connected, regardless of financial circumstances. However, every association needs money to promote its programs, so eventually, members of DIAA will pay annual dues.
6. I haven’t met or spoken to anyone from Dority in years. Is it too late to reconnect?
Not at all. Reconnection is one of the objectives of DIAA. Whether you graduated last year or two decades ago, this is your community and you can reconnect at your own pace.
7. What kinds of events or programs does DIAA organize?
DIAA organizes:
- Virtual meetings on Zoom and WhatsApp
- Reunions
- Prize-giving events
- Mentorship programs
8. How is the association governed?
DIAA is led by an Executive Committee, including a President, Vice President, Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, and Public Relations Officer. The committee works transparently, holds regular meetings, and shares updates with members.
9. Can I start a chapter in my city or region?
Yes. We encourage the formation of local or regional chapters to facilitate in-person connections.
